Do I still need to pay a deposit if I have Damage Protection?
Yes. Most charter companies still require the security deposit to be paid on site. If accidental damage occurs, the insurance reimburses the amount withheld.
What does Damage Protection cover?
It covers accidental external damage to the yacht caused by a nautical incident during your charter.
Does Damage Protection cover internal damage (scratches, broken dishes)?
No. Internal wear, cosmetic damage, and non-accidental losses are not covered.
What happens if there is no damage?
You receive your full deposit back from the charter company. The insurance remains unused.
What if the damage exceeds the deposit?
Any amount beyond the deposit is usually covered by the yacht owner's primary insurance.
What documents are required in case of a Damage claim?
Charter contract, incident report, photos of the damage, check-in/check-out inventory, repair invoice (if applicable), and logbook entry (if available).
How long does reimbursement take?
Usually 2–4 weeks, depending on documentation completeness and season.
